A practical quick-start guide to install KookiTrust correctly, verify detection, and finalize your CMP setup.

Quick start in 5 steps

  1. From the dashboard, open your site and get the widget script via “Get script”.
  2. Paste the snippet into your site <head> (or before </body> if your CMS requires it).
  3. Publish, reload your site, then verify “installation detected” in the dashboard.
  4. Configure categories and, if needed, add a reopen link /#kookitrust-manage-cookies.
  5. Run a cookie scan, handle unknown cookies, then apply updates to the widget.

Integrate by platform

WordPress

Where to add script: Appearance > Theme File Editor (or header plugin), in the global <head> template.

Quick verification: Clear cache (plugin/CDN), then verify banner display in a private session.

Shopify

Where to add script: Online Store > Themes > Edit code > layout/theme.liquid (inside <head>).

Quick verification: Save/publish the theme, then validate detection in KookiTrust.

Webflow / SPA

Where to add script: Add the script in global head code settings, or your app root layout.

Quick verification: Check script loading (network console) and test accept/refuse/configure on a live page.

Next.js / custom site

Where to add script: Inject the snippet in your shared main layout (global head) to cover all pages.

Quick verification: Verify client-side rendering and installation status from the dashboard.

Validation checklist

  • - Banner appears on first load.
  • - Accept / Refuse / Configure actions work correctly.
  • - Preferences can be reopened (floating button or /#kookitrust-manage-cookies link).
  • - Dashboard correctly detects the installation.
  • - Cookie scan is completed and unknown cookies are handled.

Quick troubleshooting

Script not detected

Confirm the snippet is published on the right domain, then trigger a fresh verification.

Banner not visible

Check console errors, CDN cache, and ensure the script is present in rendered HTML.

Preferences cannot be reopened

If floating button is disabled, add a footer/menu link to /#kookitrust-manage-cookies.
